APPRAISALS
An Ona Curran appraisal will provide you with a complete description of an object, including who made the object, name of the maker or artist if known, date, country of origin and all other appropriate information.
Appraisals will be based on Fair Market Value or Replacement Value depending on the purpose of the appraisal. Photographs are taken.
Appraisals can be prepared for estate, charitable donation, insurance, damage and loss, equitable distribution and resale.
Ona Curran is also a qualified expert witness should the need arise.
Who Needs an Appraisal?
A written appraisal by a qualified appraiser is necessary for insurance.
Appraisals document your collections and substantiate the value
of your collection if you have a damage and loss situation.
Appraisals
are often needed to settle an estate especially when there may
be disagreement amongst legatees. When equitable distribution
is required as in divorce cases, an appraisal is often advised.
When a sizable charitable donation is given to a non-profit group such as a museum or historical
society an appraisal is required.
Appraisals are also appropriate
if you wish to learn the value of your collections. A qualified
appraiser is one who has had rigorous training and testing in appraisal
methodology and is knowledgeable in his or her area of expertise. |
